Ibn Abi Zamanin (رحمه الله) stated:

Ahl Sunnah continue to disparage the people of misguided
desires just as they prohibit sitting with them and warn from their fitnah
(calamities), make others aware of their oppositions (to the sunnah)
and they do not deem this as being backbiting nor slandering them.

Sahnūn ibn Sa'īd at Tanūkhi al Mālikī رحمه الله [d.240h] was known for his
harshness with the people of bid'ah and he became judge in al Qairawān
he stopped the circles of learning of the people of bid'ah and desires in the
al Qairawān masjid. He removed the circles of the as Safariyah, al 'Ibādhiya
and Mu'tazilah. Likewise, he prohibited them from being imāms in
the masjid or teachers and educators for the youth. He once reprimanded
a group of these people of bid'ah who opposed his order and had them
paraded through the city.
